This overwhelming interest surpasses the combined first-day registrations from past Olympics, including Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024, and Milan-Cortina 2026. Casey Wasserman, president of LA28, noted that the return of the Olympic Games to Los Angeles represents a unique opportunity to engage with history.

Details of the Ticket Registration

Ticket registration opened at 7 a.m. PST on a Wednesday, leading to longer than expected wait times of over an hour. Some fans experienced technical difficulties while waiting in the virtual queue. With only 2.5 years until the Games commence on July 14, 2028, LA28 initiated ticket registration earlier than any previous organizing committee.

Fans can enter the ticket lottery until March 18. All registrants before this deadline will have equal chances in the lottery to receive purchasing time slots. Notifications of these slots will be sent via email from March 31 to April 7.

Presale and Purchasing Windows

  • Presale for local residents near competition venues: April 2 to April 6.
  • General public purchasing window: April 9 to April 19.

Individuals residing in Southern California counties, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Ventura, and San Bernardino, as well as those in parts of Oklahoma City, will have exclusive access to the presale.

Future Ticket Sales

LA28 plans to offer a total of 14 million tickets for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This figure is expected to set a new record, surpassing the ticket sales of Paris 2024. Additionally, tickets for the 2028 Paralympics will be available in 2027, with those who have registered for Olympic tickets automatically entered into the Paralympic draw.
