Portland police are currently engaged in a search operation following an incident where two officers were shot in Sullivan’s Gulch. The event transpired on Monday, January 19, 2026, around 8:21 p.m. Officers responded to reports of a weapon threat near the intersection of Northeast 21st Avenue and Northeast Clackamas Street. Upon arrival, they encountered the suspect, who opened fire, injuring two officers.
The officers were promptly transported to a local hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene, prompting a swift response from multiple law enforcement teams.

The suspect has been described as a Caucasian male in his mid-30s. He has facial hair and was last seen wearing:
- A black baseball cap
- A black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt
- Black pants
- Black shoes
He may be armed with a knife and a handgun and was seen carrying a black backpack and a green shopping bag.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to call 911. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
