Preparations for Día de la Altagracia Celebration

The Central Emergency Operations Center (COE), along with local authorities, has launched the Altagracia 2026 operation. This initiative involves the deployment of 9,121 volunteers to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees.

The COE’s Director, Juan Manuel Méndez García, confirmed the start of a traffic prevention operation initiated at 2:00 PM the previous day. This initiative aims to enhance response actions should any incidents arise during the festivities.

  • 153 emergency aid stations established in the Eastern region.
  • Two temporary hospitals set up by the Red Cross and Civil Defense within the Basilica area.

To further support operations, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, has dispatched an aerial unit. A specialized safety device consisting of three rings has been set up within the Cathedral’s perimeter, including a rapid response team from the local Fire Department.
