Saracens Unveils New Director of Rugby and Technical Structure Transition
Mark McCall, after 15 consecutive seasons with Saracens, has announced his decision to step down as Director of Rugby at the conclusion of the current season. He will, however, remain with the club in a new position as Technical Adviser and will also join the Board of Directors.
Saracens Welcomes Brendan Venter Back as Director of Rugby
Brendan Venter is set to return to Saracens as the new Director of Rugby starting in the 2026/27 season. Venter previously held this role from 2009 until 2011, where he laid the groundwork for what became the club’s most successful era. During his first tenure, he brought on board McCall as First Team Coach, establishing a strong partnership.
Continuity and Collaboration
Venter took a step back from his full-time role in early 2011 but has continued to support the club as a part-time Technical Adviser. He has worked alongside McCall and other coaches over the past 15 years. This new structure aims to maintain continuity within the coaching staff and clarity for players and fans alike.
Dominic Silvester, a spokesperson for Saracens, emphasized Mark McCall’s significant impact on the club. He stated, “It is impossible to overstate the influence Mark provided to Saracens for so long.” Silvester expressed enthusiasm about McCall’s continued involvement through the Technical Adviser role starting in 2026/27.
