Evening Snow Clears; Another Round Expected Sunday

Most of the snow across the mountains of Colorado is clearing this evening, but weather forecasts indicate another round of snowfall is expected on Sunday. Here are the details regarding weather alerts, expected snow accumulations, and temperatures for the upcoming days.

Winter Weather Alerts

Winter Storm Warnings: In effect until 5 AM Sunday for specific mountain ranges:

Eastern San Juan Mountains (above 10,000 feet)
Northern Sangre de Cristo Mountains (above 11,000 feet)
Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains (above 11,000 feet)

Possible additional accumulations: 2-5 inches.
Winter Weather Advisories: Until 11 PM this evening:

Uncompahgre Plateau
Dallas Divide (Colorado)
La Sal Mountains (Utah)
Abajo Mountains (Utah)

Possible additional accumulations: up to 2 inches.
Advisories until 5 AM Sunday: Covering numerous mountain areas, including:

Northwest and Southwest San Juan Mountains
Gore and Elk Mountains
Various valleys and basins

Possible additional accumulations: up to 5 inches.
An Avalanche Warning is in effect until 5 PM Sunday for the West Elk Mountains, including the Ruby and Ragged Ranges. Heavy snowfall increases the risk of avalanches. Travel should be avoided on slopes steeper than 30 degrees.

Snow Timing and Forecast

Snow conditions will improve this evening, with calm weather expected overnight. Another wave of snow is expected to arrive Sunday morning and persist into the afternoon. While this round may not yield significant snowfall, some areas could see accumulations between a trace to 2 inches, with localized amounts reaching 5 inches.

In contrast, valleys will remain dry and predominantly sunny, transitioning to increased cloud coverage by the afternoon.

Denver Broncos Forecast

The Denver Broncos are set to host the New England Patriots on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 PM. Expect cold conditions with occasional snow showers during the game. The kickoff temperature will be around 25 degrees, dropping to approximately 21 degrees by the 4th quarter.
