Raptors’ Quickley Doubtful Against Thunder; Poeltl Set for Toronto Return
The Toronto Raptors may face a difficult challenge against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the top team in the NBA. Starting point guard Immanuel Quickley is doubtful due to ankle soreness, as reported by Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy.
Quickley’s Condition
Quickley, 26, previously missed two games in January because of back spasms. Despite those setbacks, he has performed well recently. In his last four games, he has successfully made over 50% of his three-point attempts. Remarkably, he scored 40 points in a win against the Golden State Warriors.
This season, Quickley averages 17 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds across 44 games.
Additional Player Updates
- Ja’Kobe Walter (hip) – questionable for Sunday’s game.
- Collin Murray-Boyles (thumb) – also questionable.
Jakob Poeltl’s Status
Jakob Poeltl, who has been dealing with chronic back issues, has returned to Toronto for targeted pain relief treatment. The 30-year-old center has played only seven minutes since December 15. He has participated in 21 games this season, averaging 9.7 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Thunder Player Concerns
The Thunder are not without their own injury challenges. Aaron Wiggins is listed as questionable for the game. The team will also be missing several key players:
- Jalen Williams
- Ajay Mitchell
- Alex Caruso
- Isaiah Hartenstein
- Thomas Sorber
- Nikola Topic
Team Records
The Thunder are leading the NBA with an impressive 37-9 record. However, they are coming off a double-overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers in their recent matchup. The Raptors currently hold a record of 28-19, placing them fourth in the Eastern Conference.
