Eastern Ontario Cancels School Buses, Ottawa Remains Unaffected

In eastern Ontario, significant snowfall has led to widespread school bus cancellations, while Ottawa has chosen to maintain its bus services. The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) and the Consortium de transport scolaire d’Ottawa (CTSO) are the only agencies operating buses under the current weather conditions.

School Closures in Eastern Ontario

Several school boards have suspended operations due to the weather. The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board have closed their schools for the day. However, many other schools are still open.

Exam Rescheduling

  • The Renfrew County public board has postponed all Monday exams to Tuesday.
  • Students are advised to check with their specific schools or district boards for updates.

Weather Conditions

Eastern Ontario is currently under snowfall warnings expected to be lifted by noon. Areas like Belleville may experience up to 35 centimetres of snow, while regions to the east might see around 25 centimetres. The Ottawa area is projected to receive up to 15 centimetres.

No Impacts in Western Quebec

In contrast, western Quebec has not announced any cancellations or weather alerts. The only exception is Gatineau, which shares Ottawa’s snowfall warning.

As conditions remain variable, affected families should stay informed through their local school boards. Continued updates will provide guidance on transportation and school operations as the situation evolves.
