Sunwing Travelers Stranded in Mexico Without Rooms or Food
Travelers booked with Sunwing faced significant challenges upon arrival in Cancún, Mexico. A group of tourists arrived expecting a seamless vacation, only to find that their hotel reservations were nonexistent. Isabelle Boucher, one of the travelers, shared her experience in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
Hotel Reservation Issues Upon Arrival
On reaching the hotel, Boucher learned that the staff could not find her reservation, and the hotel was fully booked. This left her and approximately ten other travelers without accommodations, food, water, or internet access.
Traveler Reactions
Boucher expressed her disbelief at being left without support despite having paid for their trip. She stated, “It’s unthinkable to leave people in a country without knowing where to go or where to sleep.” She emphasized that Sunwing should have acted quickly to assist affected travelers.
Stranded Travelers’ Experiences
The situation improved when the hotel, the following day, started to help travelers find alternative solutions. Boucher had to stay in three different hotels over four days before finally reaching her originally booked hotel.
- Many travelers experienced separation from their families, with some assigned to different hotels.
- Reports indicate that other families and elderly individuals encountered similar issues both prior to and after Boucher’s stay.
This troubling incident raises concerns about customer service and operational efficiency within travel companies like Sunwing. Many travelers expect prompt assistance when faced with such challenges.
