Drake Maye Injury: Why Patriots QB Skipped Friday’s Practice
Drake Maye, quarterback for the New England Patriots, missed practice on Friday due to illness. Head coach Mike Vrabel confirmed that his absence was unrelated to the shoulder injury he sustained earlier in the playoffs. Maye did attend meetings at Gillette Stadium but did not participate in the physical session.
Drake Maye’s Injury Details
The 23-year-old quarterback sustained a shoulder injury during the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos. Despite this, Maye had played all 64 offensive snaps in the game, contributing to the Patriots’ 10-7 victory. After that game, he referred to his condition as merely “bumps and bruises.”
Maye’s Performance and Recovery
Prior to his illness, Maye was a limited participant in practice on Thursday. He reported that his right shoulder responded positively to the workload. “I’ll do whatever I can to feel 100%,” he emphasized, indicating his determination to help the team succeed.
Other Injuries and Team Updates
Maye was not the only player absent during Friday’s practice. Offensive tackle Thayer Munford Jr. and linebackers Robert Spillane and Harold Landry were also missing. The team is scheduled to release its final injury report ahead of Super Bowl LX, which will take place on Sunday in Santa Clara.
