On January 30, a session was held at Muir’s Be Happy Yoga Studio, tucked away on Cranes Park Avenue. The quaint studio provided a serene atmosphere with natural light streaming in through glass doors. Upon entry, participants removed their shoes to maintain cleanliness.
The Class Structure
The Yoga Strong class included a small group of seven, with six in-person attendees and one online participant. Muir prepared for the class with yoga mats, ankle and wrist weights, and dumbbells—tools usually not associated with yoga.
Warm-Up and Initial Exercises
The session commenced with light stretches, followed by plank exercises. Despite initial hesitations about the plank routine due to previous ankle injuries, Muir offered personalized support, making adjustments as needed. Participants appreciated Muir’s demonstrations throughout the class, ensuring everyone grasped the movements.
Standing Section and Weight Integration
Next, the focus shifted to standing exercises that incorporated light dumbbells. This segment proved invigorating for many, even reshaping misconceptions about yoga’s fitness value. Participants performed a variety of movements, including the hero stance with added weights.
Core and Cool Down
The final segment involved core-strengthening exercises like weighted glute bridges, which elicited some satisfied groans. The class concluded with a thorough stretching session, allowing individuals to relax and reflect on their workouts.

Muir’s Yoga Strong also includes an eight-week program featuring nutritional advice and a community WhatsApp group. Client feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, noting increased motivation and a supportive group dynamic.
