Historic Snowfall Postpones NASCAR Clash at Bowman Gray Again

Historic snowfall in North Carolina has led to the postponement of the NASCAR Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, marking yet another delay for the pre-season exhibition race. Initially scheduled for the weekend, the event has faced multiple rescheduling changes due to severe winter weather.

NASCAR Adjusts Event Schedule Due to Snowstorm

A bomb cyclone dumped nearly a foot of snow across the region, forcing NASCAR to revise its plans. The race, originally set for Saturday and Sunday, was adjusted to a condensed one-day format on Sunday. However, given the ongoing challenges posed by the storm, it was eventually moved to a later date, now taking place on Wednesday, February 4.

Community and Weather Concerns

Although the storm has passed and the skies are clearer, significant snowfall remains on the roads. Many areas are still grappling with icy conditions as temperatures fluctuate around freezing. The Winston-Salem region is expected to have daytime highs of 39°F on Monday, rising to 44°F on Wednesday. Nighttime temperatures are likely to dip below freezing.

NASCAR’s announcement emphasized the importance of safety, highlighting their collaborative efforts with local authorities. “Mother Nature threw everything at us, but safety always comes first,” said NASCAR Executive Vice President Ben Kennedy. He noted that this postponement allows the city to address community needs while ensuring a safer environment for fans and teams.

New Schedule for Cook Out Clash

The revised timing for the Cook Out Clash is as follows:

  • 11:30 AM EST — Parking lots open
  • 12:00 PM EST — Off-site shuttle services commence
  • 12:30 PM EST — Gates open for fans
  • 1:30 PM EST — Practice and qualifying (available on the FOX Sports App)
  • 4:30 PM EST — Last-chance qualifier (broadcast on FOX)
  • 6:00 PM EST — Main event (broadcast on FOX)

NASCAR officials are actively working to prepare Bowman Gray Stadium for the event. Despite the hardships, they remain committed to ensuring that all preparations are completed for a successful race day.

Fans and participants are encouraged to stay updated on the weather and the event status as conditions may change. NASCAR extends its appreciation for the patience shown by the community during this period of severe winter weather.
