Bomb Removal Experts Called to Toulouse Hospital for Unusual Emergency
A peculiar emergency unfolded at the Rangueil Hospital in Toulouse over the night of January 31 to February 1. A 24-year-old man arrived at the emergency room after inserting a World War I artillery shell into his rectum. This unusual incident led to the involvement of firefighters and bomb disposal experts.
Emergency Response to Unconventional Situation
At approximately 3 a.m., seven firefighters were dispatched to the hospital. They assisted a team of bomb disposal specialists alerted to the case. Medical personnel discovered the explosive device during a surgical procedure, raising immediate concerns about safety.
Discovery of the Explosive Device
The patient, who was experiencing pain, initially provided few details about his situation. Medical teams are accustomed to handling various injuries related to sexual practices. Upon examination and subsequent surgery, they were astonished to find a 16 cm long and 4 cm wide artillery shell from 1918 lodged within the man’s body.
