Stephen Curry Misses All-Star Game Due to Knee Injury
Stephen Curry will not participate in the upcoming All-Star Game in Los Angeles due to ongoing issues with his right knee. The Golden State Warriors’ star was sidelined for the fourth consecutive game during their latest match against Memphis.
Curry’s Injury Update
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed that Curry will also miss the home game against San Antonio, as well as the All-Star Game, which is set for Sunday. The management hopes to have him back for the team’s first game after the break.
“He’s doing well,” Kerr stated. “It’s really kind of a day-to-day thing, so it’s hard to predict for sure whether he’ll be playing in that first game after the break.” The Warriors are optimistic about Curry’s return on February 19 against Boston.
Details of Curry’s Health Issues
Stephen Curry, who will celebrate his 38th birthday on March 14, initially faced knee discomfort following a home loss to the Detroit Pistons on January 30. He underwent an MRI exam after symptoms persisted for over a week. This marks the fifteenth game Curry has missed this season.
Warriors’ Performance Without Curry
During Curry’s absence, the Warriors have managed a 5-9 record in the initial stretch of the season without him, which includes various injuries:
- 3 games missed due to illness
- 5 games due to a left quadriceps contusion
- 1 game for a sore right ankle
- 1 game for a sprained left ankle
- 1 game due to knee inflammation
- 4 games caused by patellofemoral pain syndrome
In addition to Curry, Golden State is also without Jimmy Butler, who underwent surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Butler sustained the injury during a game against his former team, the Miami Heat, on January 19.
