February 9, 2026, marks Day 4 of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, featuring a series of thrilling events across multiple sports. Notable highlights include short track speed skating, alpine skiing, and a high-stakes women’s hockey match.

Alpine Skiing Event Highlights

A new event debuts this day: the women’s team combined. The competition consists of a downhill run followed by a slalom run. Canada will have two teams participating:

  • Team 1: Valérie Grenier (downhill) and Laurence St-Germain (slalom)
  • Team 2: Cassidy Gray (downhill) and Ali Nullmeyer (slalom)

The downhill run starts at 4:30 a.m. ET, followed by the slalom at 8:00 a.m. ET.

Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing

Figure Skating and Freestyle Skiing

The men’s singles short program in figure skating starts at 12:30 p.m. ET, featuring Stephen Gogolev, who will skate second in the second flight.

Freestyle skiing sees Mikaël Kingsbury begin his moguls qualification round at 5:15 a.m. ET. He is joined by Elliot Vaillancourt and Julien Viel. The top 10 athletes will advance directly to the final.

A women’s moguls qualification round follows at 8:15 a.m. ET with competitors Maïa Schwinghammer, Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert, Ashley Koehler, and Jessica Linton.

Hockey Rivalry and Luge Events

A highly anticipated matchup pits Team Canada against Team USA in women’s hockey at 2:10 p.m. ET. This preliminary game is expected to showcase intense rivalry.

In luge competitions, the last two runs of women’s singles commence at 11:00 a.m. ET, featuring athletes Trinity Ellis and Embyr-Lee Susko, currently in 15th and 17th places, respectively.

Short Track Speed Skating Competition

The first medal event in short track speed skating is the mixed relay, starting with quarterfinals at 5:59 a.m. ET, semifinals at 6:34 a.m. ET, and finals at 7:03 a.m. ET. Canada aims to secure a podium finish in quarterfinal 3, facing teams from China, Belgium, and Kazakhstan.

The day’s action begins with heats for the women’s 500m at 4:30 a.m. ET, followed by the men’s 1000m at 5:10 a.m. ET. Canadian competitors include:
