Salem Police Hunt Suspect in Attempted Murder Case
Salem authorities are actively pursuing a 62-year-old man linked to an attempted murder incident involving a woman. The suspect, Daniel Ray Myers, is wanted by the Salem Police Department following an alarming attack that took place late on February 10, 2023.
Details of the Incident
The incident began around 9 p.m. when Myers and the victim were in his vehicle, completing online food delivery orders. During this time, Myers drove to a secluded area in West Salem. It was here that the victim reported a terrifying encounter, claiming Myers attempted to sexually assault her and stabbed her multiple times when she resisted.
After the attack, Myers allegedly confined the victim in his car. However, she managed to persuade him to stop at a Walgreens in Keizer to obtain first aid supplies. Upon arriving at the store, employees recognized the situation and promptly contacted the police.
Victim’s Condition
Responding officers located the victim at the Walgreens and took her to Salem Hospital for treatment. Despite the traumatic experience, she was able to receive medical care for her injuries.
Suspect Information
Daniel Ray Myers is now wanted for charges of attempted second-degree murder and multiple other felony offenses. Authorities believe he may be armed and urge the public to avoid confronting him if spotted.
