Oxford Firm’s Collapse Disrupts Evri Parcel Deliveries
The sudden collapse of Pedal and Post has significantly disrupted Evri parcel deliveries in Oxford’s clean air zone. The situation gained attention when local resident Carol Leonard shared her experience of multiple undelivered parcels, which included essential items for her cat.
Delivery Disruptions in Oxford
Leonard, who lives in Grandpont, reported that her parcels had been dispatched but remained stuck at the depot. Three parcels, in particular, were missing for over a week, including two that were ordered on January 29 and one on January 31. This led to confusion as she received conflicting updates regarding the status of her deliveries.
- Items included special cat food and litter.
- Delivered parcels were logged but remained untraceable for an extended period.
As a result of the delays, the pet shop from which she purchased the items issued her refunds. Leonard expressed dissatisfaction with Evri’s complaint logging system. She found the responses from the online AI tool lacking and struggled to find direct contact information.
Evri Responds to the Crisis
Other residents in the area reported similar disruptions, prompting Evri to acknowledge the impact of Pedal and Post’s abrupt closure on local deliveries. The company confirmed that Leonard’s parcels were ultimately delivered on February 10, following an apology from Evri.
An Evri spokesperson stated, “We successfully deliver more than 900 million parcels each year, with industry-leading on-time delivery rates.” They expressed disappointment over the unexpected cessation of operations by their e-cargo bike delivery partner.
Pedal and Post’s Closure
Pedal and Post halted operations in late January, affecting a total of 60 employees across Oxford and London. The company, which was awarded ‘sustainable medium business of the year’ at the Oxford Climate Awards, had recently expanded its services to London during the previous summer.
Christopher Benton, the chief executive and founder of Pedal and Post, stated, “Despite exploring every possible avenue to continue – and truly exhausting all options – we have reached the point where we can no longer sustain the business.”
Evri is actively working to restore normal delivery services in the affected areas, highlighting their commitment to customer satisfaction amidst this disruption.
