Anthea Turner Chooses Simple Wedding Over Flashy Celebration
Anthea Turner, the 65-year-old TV presenter, has opted for a simple wedding with her fiancé, Mark Armstrong, aged 59. The couple has postponed their wedding multiple times since Mark proposed during a romantic getaway in Italy in 2019, shortly after they met at a London nightclub in July of that year.
Desire for a Simple Celebration
Reflecting on her previous marriage to Grant Bovey, which took place in 2000, Anthea expressed her desire for a different type of wedding this time. Her first wedding, which featured a promotional tie-in with Cadbury’s Snowflake bars, was extravagant. Anthea remarked, “I do remember thinking this is not me; I don’t really want it to be so big.”
Changing Views on Weddings
Anthea believes that society’s perception of lavish weddings is shifting. She noted, “People with flashiness is actually going out.” This realization has influenced her decision to keep the celebration low-key.
Wedding Plans in the UK
The couple has decided that their wedding will take place in the UK, steering clear of the complexities of organizing an event abroad. “We haven’t sorted out the wedding; we have to get our act together,” Anthea said. She added that she is unsure how many bridesmaids she will have.
Relationship with Mark Armstrong
Anthea feels “really lucky” to be with Mark, who is known for his romantic gestures. She fondly recalled a surprise Easter egg hunt he organized for her, stating, “You’re never too old for an egg hunt!” This spontaneity is something she cherishes in their relationship.
The Future Ahead
After a challenging separation from her previous marriage to Grant, which ended in 2015, Anthea is looking forward to her future with Mark. She finds joy in their partnership and is excited about planning their upcoming wedding together.
