Dolphins Cut Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb Amid Roster Overhaul
The Miami Dolphins have made significant changes to their roster, releasing key players Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb. This move signals a strategic overhaul ahead of the upcoming season.
Dolphins Release Tyreek Hill
Tyreek Hill, an eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, has been waived after four seasons with Miami. Hill was acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022, for multiple draft picks and a $120 million contract extension.
- Drafted by Kansas City in 2016
- Five-time first-team All-Pro, including a selection as a return specialist
- Career statistics: 11,363 receiving yards, 83 touchdowns, and 819 receptions
- Led the league in receiving yards in 2023
Hill’s 2025 season was cut short due to a severe knee injury sustained in Week 4 against the New York Jets. Despite his on-field success, Hill’s career has been marred by several legal issues and controversies.
Bradley Chubb’s Departure
Bradley Chubb, a two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher, was also released by the Dolphins. Drafted fifth overall by the Denver Broncos in 2018, Chubb has accumulated 48 career sacks in seven seasons.
- Notable seasons with double-digit sacks: 2018 (12) and 2023 (11)
- Missed the entire 2024 season due to an ACL tear
- Acquired from the Broncos in 2022 in exchange for significant draft picks
Chubb’s time with Miami was plagued by injuries, including another ACL tear that impacted his performance. The franchise is looking to rebuild its defensive line after his release.
Additional Roster Moves
Alongside Hill and Chubb, the Dolphins released guard James Daniels and receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. These changes are expected to create over $66 million in cap space for the 2026 season.
The Dolphins have appointed Jeff Hafley as the new head coach, who will oversee the team’s restructuring as they navigate this pivotal offseason. The roster revamp marks a new chapter for Miami as they aim to strengthen their competitiveness in the league.
