‘The Night Agent’ Season 4: Writers Begin Work on Renewal

The Night Agent Season 4: Early Development Underway

During a recent interview with Deadline, showrunner Sean Ryan revealed that a writers’ room for Season 4 has begun its work. While the fourth season has not been officially picked up, Ryan indicated that the team has been developing storylines and writing scripts for some time.

  • The writers’ room was established quietly in 2025.
  • Season 4 has not yet received official approval for production.

According to Netflix sources, executive decisions regarding Season 4 will depend on the performance of Season 3. The series is transitioning from New York, where Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed, to Los Angeles after receiving a substantial tax credit of $31.6 million from Sony Pictures TV.

Audience Reception and Performance Metrics

Season 1 of The Night Agent achieved remarkable success. It garnered 98.2 million views within the first 91 days, placing it on Netflix’s Top 10 list of most popular English series. Season 2 also performed well, with 53.2 million views over a longer 159-day release window.

Ryan emphasized the importance of completing the creative process before financial commitments are made. “We’re in the story-breaking and script-writing phase,” he noted, indicating a readiness to proceed should Netflix decide to renew the series.

Production Timelines and Expectations

If Netflix greenlights Season 4 soon, the series can maintain its annual release schedule. Season 3 is set to debut less than 13 months after Season 2, a significant improvement compared to the 22-month gap between Seasons 1 and 2.

Ryan expressed confidence in the process, stating that managing production schedules for streaming is more efficient compared to previous experiences with network television. With a typical season consisting of 10 episodes, The Night Agent is poised to continue its trajectory as one of Netflix’s premier offerings.
