Estonia’s figure skating talent, Niina Petrõkina, is set to showcase her skills in the free skate program at the Winter Olympics. The event will be broadcast live on ETV2 from Milano-Cortina this evening.

Niina Petrõkina: Olympic Aspirations

Niina Petrõkina is a two-time European figure skating champion. She recently scored 69.63 points in the short program, just missing her personal national record by 0.98 points. “I was hoping for a better result, as I achieved 70 points during a clean program at the European Championships,” she commented following her performance.

Competitive Landscape

Petrõkina currently stands tenth in the competition, with nine other competitors exceeding 70 points in the women’s short program. Leading the event is Japan’s Ami Nakai with a score of 78.71 points. Fellow Japanese skater Kaori Sakamoto follows closely with 77.23 points, while last year’s world champion, Alysa Liu from the U.S.A., holds the third position with 76.59 points.
