Emile Nadeau and Lewis Irving Advance to Acrobatics Finals

Émile Nadeau and Lewis Irving, two talented skiers from Quebec, have advanced to the finals in acrobatic skiing, a notable achievement in this year’s Winter Olympics. The event took place in Livigno, Italy, with the finals scheduled for Friday at 7:30 AM.

Performance Highlights

Lewis Irving stood out among the Quebec athletes, securing his spot in the finals after an impressive first qualifying jump. He earned a score of 117.70, placing him fourth overall and allowing him to skip the second qualifying round.

In contrast, Émile Nadeau, representing Prévost, needed to perform again in the second round. Rising to the occasion, he executed an excellent jump and achieved a score of 112.67, finishing ninth and qualifying among the top athletes from this round.

Other Competitors

  • Victor Primeau finished 14th.
  • Miha Fontaine placed 15th.

Both Primeau and Fontaine narrowly missed the top 12 cut-off, marking the end of their individual competitions at the Milan-Cortina games. Fontaine expressed his disappointment after the event, noting that he would reflect on his experiences once the pressures of the competition eased.

Training Challenges

The recent heavy snowfall in Livigno disrupted the competition schedule. Qualifying rounds and training sessions were canceled, leaving the Canadian team with only two days of training before the event on February 14 and 15. Fontaine mentioned that the lack of training impacted his performance and acknowledged the challenge it presented to all competitors.

Looking Ahead

Miha Fontaine, ranked highest among Canadians in the World Cup prior to the Olympics, is hopeful about participating in the team event scheduled for Saturday. He recognized the need to adjust his mindset moving forward.

Victor Primeau, in his first Olympics, viewed his experience as a learning opportunity, expressing his intention to improve for future competitions.

As Émile Nadeau and Lewis Irving prepare for the finals, anticipation builds for their performances on the Olympic stage.
