In a conversation with Absolute Radio, Lifeson described Nilles as a wonderful addition to the band. He emphasized the importance of their early rehearsals, noting, “She felt immediately comfortable.” Despite initial nerves, Nilles showed her dedication and readiness to embrace the challenge.
During the first four days of rehearsal, Lifeson and Lee expressed some doubt. They felt that something essential was missing in her performance. “On the fifth day, she just nailed all those songs,” Lifeson recalled, marking a pivotal moment that boosted the band’s confidence.
Finalizing the Lineup
After this breakthrough, RUSH began to seriously consider Nilles’ long-term involvement. They spoke about her enthusiasm, which set the stage for a collaborative year ahead. Lifeson mentioned, “We had no crew, really. We had to learn about the modern state of touring.” They began to strategically build a team and prepare for the upcoming shows.
Planning the Reunion Tour
RUSH is currently preparing for a major reunion tour, with both Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold on board. The band aims to have a setlist consisting of 40 songs, featuring a mix for each performance. Lee stated, “About 40-percent of the set will be different night to night.” This approach ensures that each show remains fresh and engaging for fans.
