Stamkos Firmly Rejects Waiving No-Movement Clause for Predators

Steven Stamkos, a prominent forward for the Nashville Predators, has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the team. During a press conference on Friday, Stamkos strongly denied a report suggesting he would consider waiving his no-movement clause to facilitate a trade to a playoff contender before the upcoming trade deadline.

Stamkos Rejects Trade Speculations

Stamkos stated there is a “zero” chance he would waive this critical provision in his eight-year contract. He emphasized that he has not discussed any trade options with General Manager Barry Trotz.

Predators’ Current Standing

The Predators find themselves in a competitive position as the NHL season progresses. Although their chances of qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs were initially slim after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign, the team is now edging closer to a Wild Card spot in the tightly contested Western Conference.

  • Current Record: 27 wins, 24 losses, and 7 overtime losses (27-24-7)
  • Position: Fifth in the Central Division
  • Points Behind: Two points behind Seattle Kraken for the last Wild Card spot

Stamkos’ Performance

This season, Stamkos is performing well. He has scored 29 goals and amassed 45 points in 58 games, building on his previous season where he notched 53 points. He remarked on the importance of maintaining team cohesion this time of year, stating, “We want to be together.”

As the regular season winds down, with 24 games remaining in the 2025-26 season, Stamkos remains focused on striving for the postseason. “We want to play in meaningful hockey games, and we’re playing in meaningful hockey games right now,” he stated.
