Kosgei Sets Asian Record in Women’s Marathon

Brigid Kosgei of Kenya finished the race in an astonishing 2:14:29, marking a significant achievement and her sixth World Marathon Majors victory. She began strong, completing the first 10 kilometers in 32:14, a time that put her on track to break the course record.

By the halfway point, Kosgei, alongside athletes like Bertukan Welde, Sutume Asefa Kebede, and others, reached a time of 1:07:37. A decisive break occurred at the 30-kilometer mark as she and Kebede dropped under a pace of 2:15.

At 35 kilometers, Kosgei built a 22-second lead over Welde, crossing it at 1:51:40. Eventually, she maintained this advantage, finishing over two minutes ahead of Welde, who achieved a personal best of 2:16:36, placing second.
