As air travel disruptions persisted for the fourth consecutive day due to escalating violence, Indian carriers stepped up efforts to assist travelers. Millions of South Asians, including many Indians, work in various Middle Eastern countries, underlining the significance of these connections.

Flight Operations Restored

  • IndiGo announced the operation of four return flights from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
  • Air India Express confirmed the resumption of flights to Muscat, Oman.
  • Services to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE remain suspended.

On March 2, flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi began arriving in India, providing much-needed relief for passengers. Notable arrivals included:

  • An Etihad Airlines flight landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
  • An Emirates flight arriving at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
  • Additional flights landed in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kochi.

Continued Disruptions and Cancellations

Despite the gradual resumption of services, significant disruptions persist. Tensions between Iran, the US, and Israel have contributed to widespread flight cancellations.

  • On March 3, approximately 80 international flights were canceled at Delhi’s airport.
  • The previous day, Mumbai’s airport reported 116 flight cancellations.

Travelers are advised to stay updated on flight schedules, as many adjustments are expected. Airport authorities have issued advisories urging passengers to verify their flight status before heading to the terminals.
