Dave Rennie Appointed as New All Blacks Head Coach

New Zealand Rugby has officially announced the appointment of Dave Rennie as the head coach of the All Blacks. He replaces Scott Robertson, who was dismissed in January following a comprehensive review of the team’s upcoming Test season in 2025. Rennie, who previously coached the Wallabies, faced stiff competition for the role, notably from Jamie Joseph.

Rennie’s Coaching Journey

Before taking on the All Blacks, Rennie had a significant tenure in international rugby. He faced a challenging period at Rugby Australia, where he was released from his duties at the beginning of 2023. Currently, he is coaching the Kobe team in Japan’s League One.

Contract Details

Rennie has secured a contract that extends through to the end of the Rugby World Cup in 2027. His focus will shift to the All Blacks following the completion of the League One season in Japan.

Upcoming Challenges

Upon his return, Rennie will prepare the team for a series of challenging fixtures in the Nations Championship. The All Blacks are set to face several strong opponents, including France, Ireland, and Italy.

Rennie’s Vision

Rennie expressed his enthusiasm for the role. He acknowledged the honor of coaching one of the most prestigious teams in rugby. “I’m extremely proud to have been entrusted with this role and understand the expectations that come with it,” he stated in a media release.

Rennie emphasized his vision for the team’s play style, and his commitment to collaborating with players, management, and the wider rugby community. “We have a lot of talent here and we will be working extremely hard to make the country proud,” he added.

With Rennie at the helm, the All Blacks look to reclaim their dominance in international rugby and achieve continued success in upcoming tournaments.
