Ex-Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore Reaches Plea Deal, Awaits Sentencing

Sherrone Moore, former head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, has reached a plea deal regarding charges related to a domestic incident. This agreement was finalized during a court proceeding on Friday morning, where he entered a no contest plea to two misdemeanor counts.

Plea Deal Details

The court hearing took place in 14A-1 District Court in Ann Arbor. Moore faced charges of malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespassing or invasion of privacy in connection with a previous relationship. As part of the plea deal, three other serious charges — home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering — have been dismissed.

Background of the Case

Moore’s legal troubles began after he was fired by Athletic Director Warde Manuel in December for a relationship deemed inappropriate with a subordinate. Soon after his dismissal, Moore was arrested for the alleged home invasion.

Previous Charges Dismissed

  • Home invasion
  • Stalking
  • Breaking and entering

Sentencing Hearing Scheduled

Moore is scheduled to appear for sentencing on the two misdemeanor charges on Tuesday, April 14, at 2 p.m. According to ESPN’s Dan Wetzel, the malicious use of a telecommunications device could result in a year of imprisonment, while trespassing could carry a maximum of one month. However, legal sources indicate that Moore is unlikely to serve any prison time for these offenses.
