Does the Tattoo Have to Be Real? No — Sharpie Counts
Real or fake, or even drawn on with a Sharpie, a tattoo will score you free food at Chipotle. The chain says customers with any type of tattoo — whether permanent, temporary, or drawn on — can get the BOGO offer during the one-hour window.
Tattoo can mean real, temporary, drawn-on, or another creative iteration invoking tattoos, as determined at the sole discretion of restaurant staff. The bottom line: grab a marker, draw anything on your arm, and you are in.
Swae Lee x Chipotle: Exclusive Temporary Tattoos in Miami Only
Chipotle partnered with tatted Chipotle superfan and multi-platinum hip-hop artist Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd to co-create an exclusive limited-edition temporary tattoo flash sheet inspired by the illustrated artwork on Chipotle's takeout bags. The Swae Lee x Chipotle designs are available exclusively at one restaurant in Midtown Miami — 3201 N. Miami Ave. — on Friday, March 13 from 3 to 4 PM ET while supplies last.
Why Today? The "Tatted Like a Chipotle Bag" Origin Story
The phrase "tatted like a Chipotle bag" became popular online in 2019 when social media users compared Adam Levine's tattoos to the artwork on Chipotle's takeout bags during the Super Bowl LIII halftime show when Maroon 5 performed.
The promotion draws inspiration from the Friday the 13th "flash tattoo" tradition, when tattoo shops drop flash sheets of small pre-designed tattoos to commemorate the day — now Chipotle is calling them flash burritos instead.
Chipotle BOGO Rewards Badge and Last Year's Record Sales
Chipotle Rewards members who scan in-restaurant at checkout will unlock an exclusive Friday the 13th "Tatted Like a Chipotle Bag" badge in the app.
A similar tattoo-themed BOGO promotion in June 2025 drove the company's highest mid-afternoon sales on record. The March 13 offer is valid for in-restaurant purchases only and requires customers to buy an entrée of equal or greater value to receive a free item. Head to chipotle.com/tatted for full terms. Get there before 3:00 PM — lines will be long and the hour will go fast.
