Phillies Replace Harry the K’s Namesake with Corporate Sponsor
The Philadelphia Phillies have made a significant change at Citizens Bank Park by renaming a popular concession area. After 22 years, Harry the K’s, named after the late broadcaster Harry Kalas, has officially been rebranded as the Ghost Energy Deck. This decision was announced on Thursday in a press release from the team.
New Sponsorship Details
The Ghost Energy Deck is now sponsored by the lifestyle brand Ghost, known primarily for its energy drinks and protein powders. The Phillies described the revamped area as “a vibrant, high-energy destination at one of the ballpark’s most exciting viewpoints.”
History of Harry the K’s
- Harry the K’s originally opened in 2004 as Harry the K’s Broadcast Bar & Grille.
- In 2021, the area transitioned to the Miller Lite Liberty Landing but retained Harry the K’s name for its second-level concession.
Commitment to Legacy
Despite the changes, the Phillies remain dedicated to honoring Harry Kalas’ legacy. Brian Kling, head of corporate sponsorship with the Phillies, expressed that the team will continue to celebrate Kalas. “We expect to continue to show Harry singing his rendition of ‘High Hopes’ on PhanaVision after every home win,” said Kling.
Honoring Harry Kalas
- The statue of Harry Kalas remains near the original location of Harry the K’s.
- The team’s television broadcast booth is still named in his honor.
Harry Kalas began his celebrated career with the Phillies as a play-by-play broadcaster in 1971. He was a revered figure in baseball until his passing in April 2009, shortly before a game between the Phillies and the Nationals. In recognition of his contributions, Kalas was awarded the prestigious Ford C. Frick Award by the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002.
