In a separate update tied to the start of the fleet upgrade, British Airways confirmed on March 18, 2026 (ET) that installation has begun across the fleet in a process intended to allow all passengers, regardless of class of travel, to access the onboard connectivity for free. British Airways also indicated the technology will help flight and cabin crews communicate more easily with colleagues on the ground.

We’re starting installation of Starlink on our first aircraft. It’s a major engineering modification involving structural work, wiring, software and extensive testing, ” the representative said.
British Airways has also stated that, once rolled out, the service will be available on all BA mainline and Euroflyer flights from the moment passengers board to the moment they land. starlink itself is described by the airline as a system owned by SpaceX, using thousands of satellites orbiting Earth.
