James Blake Seeks Removal from Kanye West’s Bully Production Credits
Kanye West, now known as Ye, recently released his much-anticipated album, *Bully*, on March 29, 2024. This album has faced numerous delays over its nearly two-year rollout, culminating in four listening parties and a YouTube live stream prior to its launch on various digital streaming platforms.
James Blake Requests Name Removal from *Bully* Credits
Producer James Blake has announced that he is seeking to have his name removed from the production credits of the album’s final track, “This One Here.” He made this request known through his music platform, Vault.
Details about the Situation
According to Blake, the version of “This One Here” included in *Bully* incorporates elements of his original production and vocal arrangements. However, he feels that the essence of his initial artistic vision is largely missing from the final product.
Blake is currently listed as a co-writer on this track, sharing credits with Don Toliver, Quentin Miller, and Ye himself. He emphasized that the production differs significantly from what he intended. In his statement, Blake remarked, “My original version is a completely different production in spirit.” He expressed his desire to avoid taking credit for a version of the song that does not represent his work.
An Open Approach
Blake clarified that his request is not personal. He stated, “It’s not personal! I just hit a point where I don’t want to be credited on music where I can’t affect the end result.” His commitment to artistic integrity is evident in his decision to step back from the credits.
