StudioCanal Develops ‘Paddington 4’ and ‘Escape From New York’ Reboot
StudioCanal has announced exciting news regarding two major projects: ‘Paddington 4’ and a reboot of ‘Escape From New York.’ These updates were shared during a presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, a key event for the film industry.
StudioCanal’s Presentation Highlights
Anna Marsh, the CEO of StudioCanal and Canal+ chief content officer, led the presentation alongside Hugh Spearing, executive vice president of global marketing and distribution. This year’s CinemaCon, which runs from April 13–16, serves as the official convention for exhibitors and Hollywood studios.
Paddington 4 Development
Marsh confirmed that StudioCanal is in the early stages of developing a fourth installment in the beloved Paddington film series. A team of comedy writers will be working on the script, though their names have not yet been disclosed. The previous film, ‘Paddington in Peru,’ is set to release in 2024, marking the third entry in the franchise that began with the original movie in 2014.
‘Escape From New York’ Reboot
In another exciting announcement, Spearing revealed that StudioCanal is collaborating with The Picture Company to reimagine the 1981 cult classic ‘Escape From New York.’ Originally starring Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, the film follows a convict who must rescue the president from a dangerous city overrun by criminals.
