Former Oasis Members Alan White, Paul McGuigan Enter Rock Hall of Fame
Paul McGuigan, known as “Guigsy,” and Alan White, referred to as “Whitey,” have officially joined the ranks of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Both musicians were key members of the iconic band Oasis during its peak in the 1990s. Their inclusion in the Class of 2026 followed an unexpected initial omission from the list of inductees.
Induction Details
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the induction of Oasis, but Guigsy and Whitey were absent from the initial announcement. McGuigan served as the original bassist for Oasis from its formation in 1991 until 1999, marking the band’s golden era. White joined Oasis in time to contribute to their acclaimed 1995 album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory, and remained with the band until 2004. He played drums on four of Oasis’s seven albums.
Campaign for Recognition
The omission of Guigsy sparked conversations about fairness in the induction process. Fans highlighted that if Tony McCarroll was recognized for his early drumming contributions, Guigsy deserved equal recognition for his extensive tenure.
