Hawaiian Airlines joins oneworld alliance in major Pacific shift
Hawaiian Airlines became the newest member of the oneworld alliance today, linking Hawai‘i to a much wider global network and giving travelers more ways to move between the islands and the rest of the world. The move adds access to nearly 1, 000 destinations in more than 170 countries and brings new loyalty benefits for Atmos Rewards members and other alliance customers. For Hawaiian Airlines, the step marks its first entry into a major alliance and a new phase in its role across the Pacific.
What the Hawaiian Airlines move changes
Hawaiian Airlines now connects travelers to oneworld carriers across the Asia-Pacific region, the U. S. continent, Europe and beyond. The airline says its membership makes it easier for visitors and residents to reach Hawai‘i and to continue onward through a larger international network.
The airline also says Atmos Rewards members can earn and redeem points on all oneworld airlines, book flights through multiple platforms and receive elite status recognition and priority services. Members of other oneworld loyalty programs can now earn and redeem points and have their elite status recognized on all Hawaiian Airlines flights starting today.
Hawaiian Airlines, which operates about 230 daily flights to, from and within the Hawaiian Islands, says it welcomed more than 11 million passengers in 2025. The carrier links the islands with key destinations in Asia, North America and the South Pacific, including oneworld hubs in Los Angeles, New York–JFK, Seattle, Sydney and Tokyo.
Why the expansion matters now
The move comes as Hawaiian Airlines deepens its partnership footprint in a way that is meant to support Hawai‘i’s tourism industry and widen international reach. The airline says the alliance membership complements Alaska Airlines’ 2021 alliance membership and strengthens Alaska Air Group’s global network.
In practical terms, the change is aimed at making travel more connected and more rewarding for passengers who fly between Hawai‘i and other parts of the world. For the carrier, the timing underscores a push to present Hawaiian Airlines not only as an inter-island and Pacific carrier, but as a broader gateway airline with a larger global role.
Immediate reactions from alliance leaders
Hawaiian Airlines described the partnership as a welcome to its new oneworld ʻohana, saying the alliance gives Hawai‘i residents and Atmos Rewards members access to destinations ranging from Honolulu to Hong Kong, Maui to Melbourne and Līhu‘e to London. The airline also said it wants to welcome new oneworld guests with its Hawaiian hospitality while encouraging visitors to appreciate Hawai‘i’s people, culture and natural environment.
oneworld said Hawaiian Airlines adds strength to the alliance’s Pacific region and U. S. footprint and noted the carrier’s long record of hospitality. The alliance said the addition should make travel to Hawai‘i more connected and rewarding for customers.
What comes next for Hawaiian Airlines
Later this year, Hawaiian Airlines plans to mark the milestone with a special oneworld livery on an Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft. That step will serve as a visible sign of the airline’s new place in the alliance while the broader benefits begin to reach travelers across its network.
For now, the shift gives Hawaiian Airlines a larger global platform and gives passengers more options at a moment when connectivity matters across the Pacific. The impact of Hawaiian Airlines in oneworld will be watched closely as the airline settles into its expanded role.
