A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 4 AM Tuesday morning, and a Flood Watch stays up until 2 AM Tuesday as heavy rain and strong storms affect the area on April 27, 2026. Strong to severe storms with heavy rain will move south after midnight, after an evening round could bring damaging wind, isolated tornadoes and flooding.

Rainfall totals may reach from 1/2 inch to over 2 inches, with lows in the 50s tonight. Some rain could build in from the south during the evening, and cloudy skies with areas of rain possible may linger into the overnight hours. The immediate concern is not just the rain, but how much of it can fall in a short time while storms still have enough strength to produce wind damage and a tornado or two.

Tuesday will bring variably cloudy skies with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s after the morning system moves away. Areas of morning rain are expected Wednesday, with a mostly cloudy day and highs in the mid to low 60s. Wednesday night could drop into the low 40s and upper 30s, and below average temperatures are on track for the end of the work week and the coming weekend, with highs in the 60s and 50s and overnight lows in the 40s and 30s.

Some new record could occur during that cooler stretch, but the more practical takeaway is that conditions for the and 5k Saturday morning should be pretty good. After a stormy start to the week, the pattern turns quieter and much cooler, which should give runners a far better setup than the soaking and severe weather threat in place now.
