amazon video has canceled Gen V after 2 seasons, ending the live-action spinoff’s run at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Eric Kripke said the characters’ stories will continue in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects, so the franchise is not losing them even as the series itself stops here.
Kripke said, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon.” He added, “You’ll see them again.”
Season 2 drew 424 million minutes
Gen V’s second season premiered in September 2025 with its first three episodes and drew 424 million minutes viewed, enough for No. 8 on the Nielsen streaming top 10 originals chart. Two thirds of that audience came from adults 18-49, a useful sign for a franchise built to feed the next phase of the larger universe rather than stand alone.
The series originally premiered in 2023 and aired its second season between September and October 2025. That timeline makes the cancellation less a response to a dormant title than a decision made after the show had already delivered a measurable audience return.
Godolkin to The Boys
Chance Perdomo’s death in a motorcycle accident on his way to the set in March 2024 delayed production on season 2, and the loss still hangs over the show’s ending. Asa Germann has also booked a series regular role on Paramount+’s Frisco King, while Gen V itself now shifts from a standalone branch to a feeder for the wider franchise.
The Boys is ending with its fifth season on May 20, and characters from Gen V are already featured on the current run. They will appear in upcoming episodes of the final season, which means the cancellation does not erase the cast from the franchise’s main lane.
Vought Rising in 2027
Vought Rising is set to debut in 2027 and follows Soldier Boy and Stormfront in the 1950s, with Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash attached as stars and producers. The Boys: Mexico remains in development, so the universe still has motion even as Gen V exits after two seasons.
For viewers, the practical takeaway is simple: the Godolkin chapter is closed, but the characters are not. The franchise is folding them into The Boys and keeping other projects moving, which is a cleaner business decision than stretching a series past its strongest audience signal.
