weather dublin is set for a dry and sunny start to the week, with Met Éireann saying temperatures could reach 19C before conditions turn cooler later for the Bank Holiday weekend. Tuesday will stay sunny and dry, and the west is expected to be the warmest part of the country.
Aoife Kealy said the settled spell should hold for a couple of days. She said: “High pressure is going to stay close by for the next couple of days” and added: “So the settled spell is going to hang around, but it is going to turn more unsettled then for a time later in the week, with cooler weather developing for the Bank Holiday weekend.”
Tuesday and Wednesday warmth
Tuesday is due to bring sunshine and dry conditions, with temperatures between 13 and 19C. The east will be the coolest part of the country because of a breeze, while Tuesday night should remain dry and clear with a few mist patches and temperatures falling below 2C and 7C.
Wednesday is also expected to be sunny across the country. Kealy said it might be breezier, but temperatures should still run between 14 and 19C.
Rain reaches Thursday
The change starts on Thursday, when cloudier conditions are forecast and outbreaks of rain spread northeastwards across the country. Some of that rain could turn heavy, although some northeastern areas are set to stay dry.
Friday then brings a mix of sunny spells and showers, with temperatures between 14 and 18C. That turns into a cooler weekend, with dry and bright spells returning alongside showers.
Met Éireann weekend outlook
Kealy said: “It’s going to be cooler on Saturday with more widespread showers.” She added: “Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday then is going to be cooler, with more in the way of dry weather developing again, still some showers around.”
For anyone planning the Bank Holiday weekend, the practical shift is clear: the warm, dry stretch reaches midweek, then the temperature eases and showers become more common before drier spells return on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
