Esteury Ruiz Helps Dodgers Rally for 5-4 Win Over Marlins

esteury ruiz was in the lineup on April 28 when the Dodgers erased a two-run deficit and beat the Miami Marlins 5-4 at Dodger Stadium. Los Angeles scored three runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to finish off its third straight win and stay in first place in the National League West.

Dodgers Finish in the Ninth

The game turned after the Dodgers trailed 4-2 and then got a two-out, two-run double from Shohei Ohtani in the bottom of the 9th. That cut the Marlins lead to 4-3 and set up the final push that sent Los Angeles to 20 wins and 9 losses.

Pete Fairbanks could not close the door on the comeback, and the Dodgers completed a three-game sweep with one inning to spare. The result also kept them 0.5 games ahead in the NL West, a margin that left little room for a slip.

Kim Hye-seong at Shortstop

Kim Hye-seong received his World Series ring before the game, then started at shortstop and batted eighth against Miami. He said, "Coming to the Dodgers was the best decision of my life."

The day did not go cleanly for him on the field. In the top of the 4th inning, with two outs and the bases loaded, he committed an error that allowed the Dodgers to surrender their first run and trim the lead to 2-1.

Yamamoto and Hicks

Yamamoto Yoshinobu gave up five hits, four walks and four runs in five innings, with three earned runs among them. The Marlins later moved ahead on Liam Hicks' go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the 5th inning.

Kim finished with two at-bats and no hits, and his season batting average fell from 0.333 to 0.319. The Dodgers still found a way to recover late, which was enough to protect the sweep and preserve their place atop the division.
