Jamie Ding's 31-Game Jeopardy Jamie Ding Run Ends on Monday

jeopardy jamie ding’s 31-game winning streak ended on Monday, closing a run that had pushed him into the No. 5 spot for consecutive wins in regular-season play. He left with $882,605 after defeating the field 31 times in a row.

The final result also put him behind only Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, Matt Amodio and Amy Schneider on the show’s all-time list of consecutive victories. For a single contestant, that is a narrow lane at the top of one of TV’s most durable game formats.

31 Wins and $882,605

Ding’s total of 31 victories is the number that turns this from a routine loss into a history note. It placed him in a group that already included Jennings’ 74 wins in 2004, Holzhauer’s 32 in 2019, Amodio’s 38 in 2021 and Schneider’s 40 in 2022.

That puts his streak just one game shy of Holzhauer’s mark and well ahead of the pack behind him. The money matters too: $882,605 is enough to make the streak a serious earnings run as well as a competitive one.

Runaway Loss at 13,990

Ding was defeated by 13,990 points in his final game, and he said afterward that the result was unusual because he was a super champ who lost in a runaway. He also wrote “TTFN” on his final Jeopardy! answer, shorthand for “ta ta for now.”

That ending leaves the run with a clean break rather than an asterisk. He did not fade out over several games; he lost once, decisively, after stretching the streak to 31.

What Ding Said Next

After his defeat, Ding told People magazine that the response to his run mattered to him. “I kept hearing how it was bringing people together, and I love that very much,” he said.

He added, “It’s nice to have something positive on TV!” and, “As an immigrant and a person of color, I was able to become part of the history of an American institution.” He also said, “‘Jeopardy!’ really is an institution and America’s turning 250 years old and the federal government is going after immigrants in a way unlike anything that we’ve seen in the recent past. So I hope that immigrants can be seen in a positive light too.”

Ding will return for the next Tournament of Champions, which gives the show one more reason to keep his name in rotation. The streak is over, but the bracket door stays open.
