Jakub Fibigr Sparks Windsor Spitfires' 4-2 Game 3 Win
The windsor spitfires answered at WFCU Centre on Monday night, beating the Kitchener Rangers 4-2 in Game 3 of the Western Conference final. Jakub Fibigr scored 1:55 into the first period, and Windsor trimmed the series deficit to 2-1 after dropping the first two games in Kitchener.
Fibigr Opens The Scoring
Fibigr put Windsor ahead on a power-play goal 1:55 into the game. Alex Pharand doubled the lead later in the first period, giving the Spitfires a 2-0 cushion before the Rangers settled in.
Christian Humphreys pulled Kitchener within one before the first intermission. Windsor still carried a one-goal lead into the second period, and that edge held through a scoreless frame.
Windsor Holds Off Kitchener
Andrew Robinson restored a two-goal lead 24 seconds into the third period with his second goal of the postseason. The Rangers answered again when Cameron Arquette scored with five minutes left, cutting the margin back to one.
Joey Costanzo shut the door after that. Ethan Garden finished it with an empty-net goal to seal the 4-2 result, and Windsor became the home team to win all three games in the Western Conference final so far.
Game 4 Back At WFCU Centre
The win kept Windsor from falling into a 3-0 hole and gave the Spitfires a chance to keep the series moving on their own ice. Game 4 is set for Wednesday, with the Rangers still up 2-1 and Windsor now carrying the only win of the series.
