Philadelphia Secures Free Transit For World Cup Supporters

philadelphia’s host committee secured free transit for supporters exiting Lincoln Financial Field, giving World Cup ticket holders one less travel cost on match day. Meg Kane said the plan was made possible by Airbnb’s additional $5 million contribution across host cities.

Meg Kane And Airbnb Funding

Kane, the CEO of Philadelphia Soccer 2026, said the extra funding from Airbnb underwrote the agreement. Airbnb is a FIFA sponsor, and the money is being used to support the World Cup across host cities, not just in Philadelphia.

The move lands in a summer when transportation pricing has already drawn attention elsewhere. Earlier this month, NJ Transit said a round-trip rail ticket from New York Pennsylvania Station to MetLife Stadium would cost $150 per passenger, a more than 11-fold jump from the usual $12.90 fare.

Lincoln Financial Field Access

For Philadelphia supporters, the agreement applies when they exit Lincoln Financial Field through the city’s transit system. That gives matchgoers a free ride home after games, while the cost is absorbed through the broader host-city funding package.

Philadelphia’s plan also sits alongside a separate Miami setup that shows how differently host cities are handling World Cup movement. Miami-Dade County will provide complimentary game-day shuttles exclusively for verified ticket holders traveling to Hard Rock Stadium, with four confirmed shuttle hubs: the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Metrorail Station, Brightline Aventura, Golden Glades Intermodal Station and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel.

Hard Rock Stadium Shuttles

At those Miami hubs, tickets will be scanned and verified by stadium staff before boarding the shuttle, and a second validation will take place at the stadium security perimeter before entry. Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium will host four group stage matches, a round of 32 fixture, a quarter-final and the bronze final on July 18, making transit planning part of the event-day routine for thousands of supporters.

Philadelphia’s agreement is the cleaner lift for local fans: no fare at exit, no separate shuttle sign-up, and no added ticket price at the end of the ride. For World Cup supporters heading out of Lincoln Financial Field, the change is simple and immediate.
