John Higgins Beats Neil Robertson 13-10 in Snooker Results Yesterday

John Higgins beat Neil Robertson 13-10 in snooker results yesterday, winning the final frame to reach the World Snooker Championship semi-finals. The result locked in one of the four places in the last four and left the championship with its semi-final lineup complete.

Higgins and Robertson at the Crucible

The quarter-final went the full distance of a best-of-25 match before Higgins closed it out 13-10. That final frame settled a match that had stayed tight enough to go to the wire, with Robertson unable to stop the finish once Higgins had the chance to end it.

Stephen Hendry summed up the manner of the win on commentary: “OK not the same style of win as it was against Ronnie when it was all big breaks, frames won in one visit.” He added: “But he's come through a struggle of a match - he can play any type of snooker. He's just an unbelievable competitor.”

Murphy, Allen and Wu Yize

Higgins was not the only player to finish a hard-fought quarter-final with the same scoreline. Shaun Murphy beat defending champion Zhao Xintong 13-10 to reach the semi-finals, while Mark Allen edged Barry Hawkins 13-11 to book the last remaining place in the semi-finals.

That set up a final four made up of Higgins, Murphy, Allen and Wu Yize. Former champions Higgins and Murphy will meet in one semi-final, while Wu Yize and Allen will face each other in the other.

Semi-final pairings at the Crucible

The quarter-finals were due to conclude on Wednesday, and live text coverage ended after the session. Dennis Taylor pointed ahead to the opening of the semi-finals with this line: “I'm not sure what you're doing tomorrow but tune in at 1 o'clock because you're going to see a Wizard against a Magician.”

That leaves the championship into its last stage with two clear semi-finals set and no quarter-final place still hanging over the event. For Higgins, the 13-10 finish was the route back into the business end of the tournament after a match that had to be won frame by frame.
