Amy Dowden books Majorca break after Strictly future comments
Amy Dowden used a last-minute beach break in Majorca to reset after speaking about her future on Strictly Come Dancing. The Strictly professional posted a bikini photo from the beach with husband Ben Jones and said the trip was booked for “a few days of relaxation before life gets even crazier!”
Majorca before the next stretch
The 2017 Strictly hire has spent much of the year talking about what comes next on the dance floor, and the break lands while she is still a current talking point after a 2025 run with Thomas Skinner ended in the first dance-off exit against Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova. For a performer whose schedule has already included a final in 2019 with Karim Zeroual, the pause is brief rather than a step back.
Dowden wrote on Instagram: “The sea was calling. A very last-minute trip booked for a few days of relaxation before life gets even crazier! #sunseasand #blessed #majorca #beach #summer.” The wording matches the practical reality of a dancer moving from short downtime straight into another demanding stretch.
Blackpool, tenth year, and beyond
She told the Metro that if she is asked back, she would love to get to Blackpool on Strictly to prove to herself that she is back to where she was before cancer. She also said: “I’d love to enjoy my tenth year on Strictly, then do some presenting down the line and, one day, maybe even join the judging panel. I judge a lot of competitions around the UK and around the world and I’d be a nice Strictly judge: fair, honest and sympathetic.’”
That career route gives her beach break a sharper edge. Dowden battled cancer in 2023 and missed the 21st series, so any return now carries more weight than a normal casting cycle. The combination of a brief holiday, a live Strictly future conversation, and a possible road stint with Carlos Gu puts her in a narrow window where rest, visibility, and planning all overlap.
2026 line-up pressure
The 2026 series line-up has not been confirmed, and five dancers have said they will not return. That leaves Dowden’s next move tied to a show roster that is still in flux, while she prepares to hit the road with Strictly champion Carlos Gu.
For Dowden, the clean read is simple: the Majorca break is a pause, not an exit. Her comments point to a dancer still angling for another Strictly run, with Blackpool, a tenth year, and eventually presenting or judging all sitting ahead of the holiday tan.
