Black Diamond Named Bermuda Tourism Authority's UK and Ireland MICE Representative

Black Diamond is now bermuda’s Agency of Record for trade and MICE representation across the UK and Ireland. The Bermuda Tourism Authority said the appointment is meant to turn awareness into measurable opportunity. It also puts a London-based travel communications agency in charge of outreach tied to leisure, group and business events travel.

Michael DeCouto, the authority’s chief sales and marketing officer, said the move is about deeper engagement with airline and industry partners. He said it will help build year-round demand for Bermuda’s tourism economy. Black Diamond brings trade relationships and MICE credentials into a market Bermuda wants to grow.

UK and Ireland market

The agency will lead trade education, product development, partner activations, planner outreach, events, familiarisation opportunities and collaboration with airline, hotel and destination partners. Bermuda is about seven hours from London, a detail that fits the authority’s message that the island can be practical for UK and Ireland buyers while still feeling distinct.

DeCouto said, "Bermuda offers…something increasingly valuable: a destination that is close enough to be practical, yet distinctive enough to feel truly rewarding," and added, "Black Diamond brings the market expertise, trade relationships and MICE credentials needed to help us convert awareness into measurable opportunity."

Hotel space and flights

Bermuda’s pitch to meetings and incentives buyers rests on a set of concrete selling points: 21 square miles of island space, 170,000 square feet of hotel meeting space, and more than 1,200 guest rooms in hotels with meeting space. The island also has an award-winning international airport with U.S. pre-clearance and more than 20 nonstop flights from the U.S., the UK and Canada.

Those assets help explain why the authority is placing trade representation in the UK and Ireland. DeCouto said the appointment is about supporting airline and industry partners and building demand that delivers real value for Bermuda’s tourism economy.
