Peter Wallace on the arrest
Wallace said the suspect is a man in his 60s. He also said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and that there is no threat to public safety at this time.
The arrest nearby narrows the immediate police response to one suspect, but investigators were still working the area Thursday. Their canvass and search for security footage point to the next phase of the case, as detectives build the timeline around the shooting location.
Marlee Avenue and Glengrove Avenue West
The call came in just before 12:30 p.m. in north Toronto, a residential area near Marlee Avenue and Glengrove Avenue West. That location placed the response in a visible part of the neighborhood while police secured the scene and began collecting evidence.
For residents and anyone passing through the area, Wallace’s statement means the police presence was tied to one incident rather than an ongoing threat. The investigation remains centered on where the man was shot, who was arrested nearby, and what security video may show about the minutes before and after the shooting.
