Iran Jails Craig Foreman and Lindsay Foreman for 10 Years — Detention Of Craig And Lindsay Foreman

Craig Foreman and Lindsay Foreman were arrested in Iran in January 2025 and later received a 10-year prison sentence. The detention of craig and lindsay foreman has kept the British couple in Tehran’s Evin prison for 16 months, with the pair held separately and able to reach family only through closely monitored calls.

The couple were traveling through Iran on a global motorcycle journey when Iranian authorities accused them of espionage. Both strongly deny the allegation. Their son, Joe Bennett, receives occasional phone calls, and those calls are often interrupted.

Tehran’s Evin prison

Lindsay Foreman is 53 and Craig Foreman is 52. Lindsay Foreman is being held in Tehran’s Evin prison and said, “I am trying to maintain my mental health through reading, exercise, and yoga.” She also said, “the reality of a long-term sentence is becoming increasingly difficult to accept.”

Craig Foreman said, “We feel as though our lives are being wasted,” and urged “the UK government to take stronger action to secure their release.” He also said several of his fellow prisoners have been executed, while Lindsay Foreman recalled the trauma of nearby bombings during recent regional conflict.

January 2025 arrests

The arrests came in January 2025, when the couple were traveling through Iran on their motorcycle journey. In February, Iranian authorities handed down the 10-year prison sentence, turning the case from detention into a long custodial sentence that now defines the family’s options.

The couple said they had been aware of travel warnings advising against visiting Iran, and Lindsay Foreman said, “We did not expect to face such severe consequences as tourists.” Craig Foreman said he believes they will eventually be free, but the family’s immediate reality remains the monitored calls from prison and the separation inside Evin.

For Joe Bennett, the practical effect is narrower and more immediate: occasional calls, often interrupted, with his parents separated inside the same prison. The next step in their case now sits with the UK government and the authorities holding Craig Foreman and Lindsay Foreman, as the sentence they received in February continues to shape every contact they have with home.
