Chet Hanks Lives in a Jayco Eagle RV in Nashville
chet hanks says he is living in a Jayco Eagle RV in Nashville while trying to build a country music career. On April 28, he said the move came after he got tired of rotating through rental homes and hotels.
“I didn’t want to get an apartment,” he told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. He added, “I didn’t want to do that again, and I didn’t want to furnish it.”
Nashville RV Life
Hanks moved to Nashville to pursue country music with his band Something Out West, and he said the RV fit the way he wants to live while doing it. “I just like having my own space,” he said, describing the setup as a better answer than another lease and another round of furniture buying.
He said the RV has “everything you need,” including a kitchen and a walk-in shower, and he credited a trip to Northern California for pushing him toward the idea after he crashed in an Airstream. That experience led him to choose wheels over an apartment, which is a practical call for someone trying to keep a music project moving without locking himself into a long-term setup.
Trailer Park Age Gap
Hanks also said he is “probably the youngest person in the trailer park by 30 or 40 years,” and said his neighbors are “great people.” The detail cuts against the usual image of a Nashville starter life; he is not describing a temporary downgrade so much as a deliberate base of operations while he works the country lane.
Recently, he and bandmate Drew Arthur played Stagecoach, where they performed “You Better Run” and Hanks said it was “a big deal.” He also said, “It was only our second performance ever, so I'm trying to play catch-up. I was nervous.”
Stagecoach and Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks was in the crowd at Stagecoach, and the family tie gives the story extra visibility without changing the core business move: a 35-year-old musician choosing a low-friction living arrangement to keep building. For now, the clearest read is that Hanks is treating Nashville like a working base, not a celebrity address.
