Pedersen Says Swfc Takeover Should Close Before West Brom
swfc are expected to complete their takeover by Arise Capital Partners before Saturday’s match against West Bromwich Albion, with Henrik Pedersen saying he is confident the deal will be signed off before kick-off. The timing matters because the club set a 1 May deadline to get the buyout done before the Independent Football Regulator could get involved next week.
Pedersen and the Hillsborough handover
David Storch, his son Michael and business partner Tom Costin are expected to be at Hillsborough on Saturday as the American consortium moves toward completion. Pedersen said the change would draw a line under a difficult spell and open the next phase for the club.
“This relief that the past is the past and now we can start to look into the future will be an emotional moment for sure,” he said to Radio Sheffield. “I think some people will start to cry because it has been so tough. If you've not been here you can't imagine how tough it has been.”
Arise Capital Partners deadline
The 1 May target was set to keep the sale ahead of the point at which the Independent Football Regulator could step in next week. Wednesday have been in administration and were docked 18 points for financial infringements under the previous ownership of Dejphon Chansiri, leaving the club trying to avoid finishing on a minus points total.
Pedersen also tied the ownership change to the work still ahead on the pitch and in the squad. “We have a big job over the summer to prepare a new squad that can bring us a better moment in the future,” he said.
That rebuild starts with Saturday’s home game, where Wednesday are still chasing a first Championship home win of the season. Pedersen told the players they cannot guarantee a win, only a top performance, with the expected presence of David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin in the stadium adding weight to the day.
