Shania Twain Wants to Meet Ella Langley at the 61st ACM Awards
shania twain says she wants to meet Ella Langley at the 61st ACM Awards later this month, adding a host’s attention to one of the show’s most-nominated artists. Twain said on Friday morning, May 1, that she is looking forward to talking with Langley when the country industry gathers in Las Vegas.
Langley has seven nominations at this year’s show, putting her among the event’s most-nominated artists alongside Megan Moroney with nine, Miranda Lambert with eight, Lainey Wilson with seven, Chris Stapleton with six, Zach Top with five and Cody Johnson with four. Twain is set to host the 61st ACM Awards, and the academy has also lined up a long list of performers for the broadcast.
Twain on Langley
Twain told Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones that when she first heard Langley’s song, she thought, “wow, this is the real thing.” She added, “So, I’m very excited to meet her. I want to know more about where this style came from. Obviously, it must’ve been rooted in something from her childhood, which is really, really great. So I’m excited to meet her and to cheer all of these wonderful artists on.”
That reaction gives Langley a visible boost inside a field already crowded with nominees and performers. Twain also said she is a big supporter and a really big fan of other artists, and that she looks forward to cheering for new artists and nominees.
Las Vegas on May 17
Twain said she is thrilled to host the 61st ACM Awards in Las Vegas, a city she called a place that feels like home. The academy announced that she would host the show, and she said, “I’m thrilled to be hosting the 61st ACM Awards in Las Vegas, a place that feels like home. It’s such an honor to be part of this incredible night celebrating Country Music’s biggest stars, especially with so many talented women leading nominations this year. I can’t wait to welcome all of the fans and artists out for this unforgettable night.”
The 61st ACM Awards will begin at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT, and 5 p.m. PT on Sunday, May 17. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks, which keeps the lineup open even as the show builds around Twain, Langley and the artists already set to perform.
