Joel David Moore and Steven Williams pull out of Comic Con Liverpool
Comic Con Liverpool pulled Joel David Moore and Steven Williams from its spring 2026 weekend after both had to withdraw from the comic con liverpool lineup. The event team said refunds for autos and photos will go out automatically through Ticket Quarter.
The cancellation hits a convention that runs from Saturday, May 2 to Sunday, May 3 at the Exhibition Centre at Liverpool Experience Campus. About 50 stars from comic books, television, film and pop culture are due to visit the city, so any late change affects a packed autograph and photo schedule rather than a single appearance slot.
Joel David Moore and Steven Williams
"We were told last night that Joel David Moore has a directing job this weekend and is now unable to attend. We were also emailed overnight to say that Steven Williams has Covid and also will not be attending," the Comic Con Liverpool team said. It added: "We are bringing you this news as soon as possible and exactly as it was relayed to us."
The same post said: "Ticket Quarter have been notified and all refunds will be sent automatically for autos and photos." For anyone who bought the X-Files group photo, the partial refund will match Steven Williams's photo price, which is the practical detail buyers need most.
Emmett J Scanlan steps in
Emmett J Scanlan agreed to attend on Saturday in Joel David Moore's place, taking over Moore's table in the Green venue at the M&S Bank Arena. He also inherited the 1.45pm Photoshoot F and 4.55pm Photoshoot D slots on Saturday, while his Sunday location and times remained unchanged.
Comic Con Liverpool said late changes are difficult to avoid, and it used the bluntest line in the announcement: "Late cancellations are a nightmare for us all, but can't be helped, and if we have any opportunities to fill those spaces - with relevant names - then we will." That is the working rule here: replace where possible, refund where not.
Alicia Silverstone on Sunday
After speaking with Alicia Silverstone and her team, Comic Con Liverpool added her for Sunday from 10:30am to 1pm only. She will do selfies and autographs only, with no professional photo sessions.
The guest list still includes Gillian Anderson, announced last November, William Shatner, Noah Schnapp, Cara Buono, Joe Chrest, Caleb McLaughlin, Matt Smith, Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan. With around 50 names on the bill, the convention can absorb a few absences, but the buyers sitting on autos and photo passes should already have the cleanest answer they need: the money for the cancelled Joel David Moore and Steven Williams sessions goes back automatically.
